The Uptrend in Consumer Confidence in Malaysia Stabilised in First Quarter of 2011

The uptrend in the consumer confidence in Malaysia stabilised to an index point of 105 in the first quarter of 2011, recording the first correction since the fourth quarter of 2009, according to the latest Global Consumer Confidence Index survey conducted by The Nielsen Company (NYSE:NLSN). Consumer confidence levels above and below a baseline of 100 indicate degrees of optimism and pessimism.

Radio Listeners Tune in Almost 25 Hours in an Average Week-The Highest Average Time Spent Listening in 5 Years

Radio attracts 2.31 million people aged 10 years and above in an average 15-minute time slot, the largest radio average audience on record for Peninsular Malaysia, according to the latest findings of Nielsen’s Radio Audience Measurement (RAM) Malaysia. Average weekly time spent listening to the radio has also increased, up from 22 hours 13 minutes per week in July/August 2010 to 24 hours and 54 minutes per week in March/April 2011. Overall radio listenership remains steady with 15.6 million people (9 in 10 people aged 10 years and above) in Peninsular Malaysia tuning in every week.

Malaysia's Advertising Market records a One Percent Contraction in the First Half of 2009

The Malaysian advertising market has recorded a total spending of RM 2.9 billion in the first half of 2009—a decline of one percent compared to the same period last year. According to the latest Nielsen Advertising Information Services (AIS) report (where advertising figures are based on published rate card), the growth in Terrestrial TV (+6%), Radio (+10%), Outdoor (+16%), Point-of-Sale (+7%) and Internet (+12%) has helped to off-set the decline in adspend for Newspaper (-5%), Magazine (-11%) and Cinema (-10%).

Drinkable yogurt outpaces other categories in global growth according to new ACNielsen study of food and beverages

Beverages that support healthy diets are among the world’s fastest-growing food and beverage categories, according to the latest study released by ACNielsen Global Services, an operating unit of The Nielsen Company. The Executive News Report, titled What's Hot Around the Globe – Insights on Growth in Food & Beverage Products noted that Drinkable Yogurts in particular was the fastest-growing food and beverage category purchased by consumers worldwide.

Confidence Index in Malaysia Continues to Improve: ACNielsen
Malaysia’s Consumer Confidence Index  rose 3 points to 114 in the 2H 2006, according to ACNielsen, the world’s leading market research and information company.
